Cromwell Road

Cromwell Road was once a thriving shopping area with over 18 small shops serving the area of the Freehold immediately south of what is now the North Circular Road.

In the late 1960s all the shops east of Pembroke Road were demolished and replaced by a comprehensive housing scheme involving the creation of blocks of flats in Pert Close and Haldane Close. When The Alexandra Arms pub was converted to flats in 2014 only one shop was left.
